Scotland Ranks Among The UKs Youngest First Time Buyers
Scotland has one of the youngest average age of first-time buyers in the UK, according to one bank’s data. TSB analysed their first time buyer data, finding that the average age has decreased over the last year from 32 to 31. London maintained the highest average age for new homeowners, at 33, while Scotland and Wales recorded the lowest at 30. Commissioned survey research by the bank among first time buyers who have got on the property ladder in the last five years found that 17% hope to be mortgage free before 40. The survey by Censuswide of more than 1,000 first time buyers who had purchased a home in the past five years found the majority (57%) hope to reduce their mortgage term. Of those who have made overpayments, over two-fifths (43%) make them monthly.
